Ability to set the date in American format MM/dd/yyyy (1 Votes) Vote for this Feature
This is really annoying to have day/month/year format if everyone in the USA is using month/day/year format. When I see 03/02/2019 then it means March 2nd, 2019 whereas it really is February 3rd. It takes literally less than 2 hours, while drinking coffee, for a developer to add date preference settings, where you can select European format day/month/year, as well as American format month/day/year and perhaps, and perhaps also a database format YYYY-MM-DD (which is kind of universal around the world and prefered by some). I'm a developer myself so I know it's an easy fix. Thank you!
"When I see 03/02/2019 then it means March 2nd, 2019 whereas it really is February 3rd. ". No it ONLY means February 2nd. Why would we want ambiguous (adding US format) dates on a British database for booking for aircraft flown in Britain or even Europe - ALL of whose countries use the same dd/mm/yy format? This would not only be confusingly unnecessary, but could lead to safety issues.
It's perhaps impossible to explain Brits that the world has other countries that don't belong to Great Britain. For instance, Phoenix, AZ is not located in Great Britain, and this is where I book my flights. Additionally, there is no such thing as a British database. Values stored in the database can be presented in any date/time format as they are selected, and, in fact, the default db view format is yyyy-MM-dd; and, I believe, the actual dates are stored as integers anyway. Giving users an ability to select date format as a part of user preferences has nothing to do with British people. Brits can still have their date format. They will have whatever they select. I'm probably wasting my time explaining British ignorant how coding work. Suffice to say, you can select any time zone, any date and time format, any language in your smartphone or computer no problem, and no one is forced to any particular settings. But when it comes to this website, then no, only British people count and the rest of the world should shut up. If this website is intended for British people only, please block out-of-Britain IPs and don't collect membership fees. Wishful thinking of course, because when it comes to credit card payments, all the credit cards from around the world are welcome...... When money talks, BS walks. Lastly, before having a "Britain Uber Alles" attitude, fix the website performance. It's down half of the time.
